The Public Policy Institute has updated the jobs statistics on its Web site with April 2008 numbers. They show that New York's statewide private-sector job growth rate over the past year exceeded the national average. But Upstate's job growth rate was less than a third that of New York City's. Statewide, the fastest growing sectors were education and health services and leisure and hospitality.
